Defender definition file not updated

Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1051.0
Engine Version: 1.1.1185.0
Signature Version: 1.0.0.0
After installation in not updating the definition file but there is "Windows
defintion not updated in 45 days"
 
Stu, Your suggestion worked beautifully. I'd been going out of my mind
trying to get Windows Defender to update. Uninstalled and re-installed, etc,
etc. Nothing worked. Your method has everything running smoothly, again.

Please go to Windows Update, and choose Custom. Look for definition updates
and install them.
 
If Windows Update isn't offering you definition updates, it seems to me that
your install isn't complete.

I would go to control panel, add or remove programs, Windows Defender, and
do Change, Update--to do a repair install.

Then go back to Windows Update, do a custom scan, and install the
definitions.
