Defender conflict found!

I downloaded Defender and thought it worked fine. A few days later, I tried
to download some audio and video files from a popular radio show which I do
frequently. Now the files could not be saved to my PC or installed. I spent
countless hours trying to correct this. I explored all kinds of settings to
no avail. I also found that countless saved files on my PC could not be
opened or played. A Security prompt said to find the file, click properties
and unblock. I did this and the file was no longer blocked, but it still
wouldn't open. After online forum searches, tech chat room queries, I
decided to uninstall Defender; especially since I have full AOL security
suite, AdAware, Spybot, spyblaster, spyguard and so on. Guess what? Problem
solved. All my media files will play and I can download new ones. I only
wish that I had not deleted the former MS spywaye untility when I uninstalled
it. It worked wonderfully and I don't seem to be able to find a download for
that anymore. I hope this saves someone all the time I wasted. Maybe when
the Beta fixes are complete?

I saved them all. If you want a copy of...
MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall_701.exe - November 15, 2005 - 6749kb.
I will be glad to send it along. Remove xxx from my email address.

The issue with downloads being unable to be saved is one which Microsoft is
interested in learning more about, and is able to fix.

The issue of being unable to play the existing files appears to me to be
related to that first issue.

I suspect this same issue may come back to bite you even if further work is
done on Windows Defender, so if you are interested in resolving this, I hope
you will drop a note (perhaps with a copy of this post) to Mike Treit, of
Microsoft:

(remove the spaces)

He is collecting data from beta participants who see this issue.

I know this can be maddening, because I saw it on my own system, and didn't
connect it with Windows Defender for many weeks.
