defender appl. failer

I have windows xp sp2 and had microsoft anti spyware installed whenI got pop
up to install windows defender. after installing ran scan all apperared to be
ok. The next time I logged on got error message "Aplication failed to
initialize error 0x800ba. Aproblem caused windows defender to stop". I
checked forum and found what is supposed to be solution but it did not solve
my problem. Ant help will be appreciated thank you

Hello whosur,

Please check the event log (Start->Run->Eventvwr) for events from the
service control manager in the system lºg.

There should be an event in for the WinDefend service.

There's a little "copy" button in the event viewer when you select an event,
if you paste that here, we can probably help.

This is what I found in the event viewer.

DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled
or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to
start the service upnphost with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{204810B9-73B2-11D4-BF42-00B0D0118B56}

Keep scrolling down, until you find a yellow triangulo with a exclamation
next to a
WinDefend, look for the date and time when you get the error: Aplication
failed to
initialize error 0x800ba, paste again the result in that date and time.

Hi I have decided to uninstall windows defender ad wait till it is out of
beta.
