Hi there !

I've just downloaded the Defender online.

The previous version of Microsoft Antispyware has a Track Eraser function.
In the recent Defender, I am no longer able to locate this function.

Has this function been terminated ? Where can I locate this function ?

Your advised is most appreciated. Thanks !

Tracks eraser is a feature of Internet Explorer version 7, which is expected
to be available in a similar timeframe to the released version of Windows
Defender.

Thanks - But just one clarification. Previously TrackEraser functions allow
selection of location/programs where users can instruct track erasing
selectively. Example : Recycle Bin, Media Player/Video ...etc.

Would Internet Explorer Version 7 allow the same selection ?
Or does it only clear caches on Internet activities only ?

Regards, - JC

This is a difference--it is IE only. It does allow a breakdown:

Temporary Internet Files
Cookies
History
Form data
passwords
(or all of the above)

Thanks - then how can i track erase on programs such as Window MediaPlayer
etc like it use to ?

If Defender is IE only now; Is there a separate program that would perform
previous functions that Antispyware does ?

Regards

Hi 'JC',

CCleaner is a powerful tool that will erase tracks on all sorts of programs,
including Windows Media Player and Recycle Bin. It also clears unneeded
files, such as unused file extensions and obsolete software. You can download
it from the following site:

http://www.ccleaner.com/

I hope this helps you.

Andrew has mentioned one popular choice--but I can't recommend it without
reservation--I've seen reports from knowledgable folks that using it to
clean registry entries can lead to damage to properly installed
software--i.e. entries that are needed are cleaned up.

One must be careful with it. Too many people have let it remove the
uninstall files for IE7 Beta 2 Preview and therefor been unable to get back
to IE6 or install IE7 Beta 2.
