defaulting data from last record in continuous subform

I am trying to get multiple files into a record using a continuous subform.
Since my users will be entering many files, and time = productivity/money, I
would like to make the data in the fields in the previous record the default
value in the current record. I know it should be easy, but I'll be dammed if
I can get it to work. Can anyone set me straight?

The fields I am working with are:
FormType
Remit
Year
