Hello,

Wondering if anyone knows how to change the default zone creation settings.
So when I create a new forward lookup zone, it doesnt use the servers
default .. which is an internal hostname only..
I'd like to make it so on creation of a zone it uses my internet hostname
rather than the internal.

Anyone know how ? Or what I change so that future forward zones use this?

Jason

Don't know of this setting. But if you create your zones with a dnscmd.exe
in a script you can add this after the zone add line to change the SOA. You
can also use this if you create the zone using the gui.

dnscmd /recordadd <zonename> <Node> <Type> <primary server> <email>...
See dnscmd /recordadd /? for help

Example:
dnscmd /recordadd rgl2.com @ SOA n1.yahoo.com staceyw.mvps.org 2 900 600
86400 3600

Do you know if this will work .. so I dont have to restart the server
service?

Im sorry, I got that file. Resource kit.. Netmgmt.

The only problem Ive noticed now is that I get error messages while working
with DNS that came with Windows 2003 Ent. Server

What error message? From dnscmd.exe? Use dnscmd.exe from the Support tools
on the CD. Install the support tools from the support dir.
