I accidentally clicked an advertisement button that
installed its own toolbar on my IE and took control of the
operation. By the time I figured out how to get rid of it
there as change made to my system that I can not figure
out how to correct. It is only a nuisence factor but I
would like to correct it anyway. My IE no longer opens in
the resized window I set on the previous session. It now
opens as a small window about 1/3 of the total screen
size. None of my other computers have ever done this and
I can not find any settings that would over ride this
condition. Does any one know what happened and how to
reset to the original behaviour?

Hi,

Do this:

Close all open windows. Open the browser, then manually drag the corners
to the size you want it to be. Close the browser. It should now reopen
to how you set it.

.
Thanks for the input but that is what I can not get it
to do any more. I drag the edges to the size I want and
it should open that way the next time but it doesn't. No
matter what I do regarding resizing it just reverts back
to the 1/3 size the next time.

OK,

Then:

Go to Add/Remove Programs.
Uninstall Microsoft Internet Exlorer.
An option menu should appear and allow you to do a repair of IE.

Thanks, I thought I might have to reinstall it but this
sounds better. I will try it when I get home tonight.
Assume it works unless I post another reply.

Hi :-)

You don't mention which version of Windows or IE you have, and this
information is very important when it comes to uninstalling or repairing XP.
Be aware that, if you have Windows XP, you can not uninstall IE or any of
its files, as it is a core part of the OS and you will trash your system.
The only options you will get in the Add/Remove Programs with XP is to
Repair or Reinstall. You can choose either of them that might fix your
problem.

Even if you don't have XP, uninstalling IE is always the 'last straw' or the
extreme when all else fails. You can repair or reinstall most all versions
of IE from Add/Remove Programs, or be the following methods, which is far
more recommended. Please follow the instructions carefully.

To Repair Windows XP -

Unlike the previous versions of the Windows program, the IE6 is a core
part of the XP program. A reinstall over the existing install can cause
problems, and there are specific instructions that can reduce the
chance of such problems. However, it is always much safer to do a
repair instead of a reinstall. A reinstall should only be done as the
very last thing when all else has failed. And then only according to
the proper instructions.

Be sure that your AV and firewall is disabled, and follow all
instructions carefully

Make sure the re-sized window is the last IE window closed.
