Pat

we are running W2K AD, when creating a new user , what should be the
default users/groups in the user Security tab?

Hi Pat

when you create a new user the user accounts gets assigned, by default, to
the Domain Users group .. and that info is shown in the 'Member Of' tab. In
AD users & Computers there is no security tab.

Ooops .. you were right ... there is a security tab! the tab is shown when
the advanced view is enabled.

from what I know the users & groups shown are the ones who have been granted
certain rights on the user account.

There is no simple answer as it really depends what you want your users to
be able to do. The only group worth looking at is the Everyone group, and
besides allowing users to change their password I would not grant them any
other right.
