Default speaker setting

I have a quadrophonic speaker setup for my computer, running windows XP pro.
However, I have to reset the speaker set up in the control panel each time I
restart my computer. It defaults to stereo desktop speakers. I have tried
changing my sound card but the problem remains, leading me to believe that
it is a systems problem. Can anyone help me? Is there somewhere in the
registry that contains your default speaker settings?

Hmm.........sure sounds like a sound blaster card. If you open some other
program that requires audio and does not support a quad set up that program
makes it revert back to stereo.

Also, if you are using the drivers from the Windows Update site, trash them
and install the drivers from Creative. Same thing happened to me when I
updated Creative drivers from the windows update site.

Never trust 3rd party drivers from the windows update site. I have yet to
use any of them that actually worked. I always had to revert back to the
drivers from the mfr.
