When I click on 'new presentation' what and where is the
file that defines the format for a new presentation?
When I click on insert a new slide, what defines the
format for the new slide?

Thanks

Thanks - I can now start with the desired format;
however, when I click 'insert new slide' I get the
orginal slide format, not what I defined with 'blank.pot.

William,
What version of PPT are you using? If it is 2003, you may be running into
the new feature that lets you set the default for new slides to be something
other than blank.pot. (Also in all versions, if you have a template defined
for the file, you will get that formatting instead of the default slide
template.)
