Is there a way to change the default page orientation from portrait to
landscape in Wordpad to that it opens in landscape? Thanks for any
suggestions.

Wordpad should open using the same dimensions that were used when it was
last used. In other words, closing Wordpad while its window is landscape
shaped will cause it to open in landscape shape.

Hi Sharon,

Not a new instance of wordpad.exe itself. It defaults back to Portrait.

Thank you Sharon and Wesley. It appears that when you re-open Wordpad, it
defaults to Portrait, so I'll have to remember to change the page setup.

Thanks, Wes. Missed the fact that the OP was talking about the Wordpad page
settings for printing. :(

Sharon, I Searched (RegScanner.exe) all through the registry looking on how
to change it to default to landscape, no cigar. Wanna know about Wordpad
toolbars. ;-)

Nah but thanks. FWIW, I have a tablet PC that I often use in portrait mode.
Not all programs are friendly about switching to and from portrait and
landscape views. I guess that's why I assumed the shape of the Wordpad
window itself was being questioned and not the default printing
orientation.

You can set the wordpad orientation default to Landscape but it will apply to
all other programs as well. Open Printers and Faxes through Start menu.
Right-click on your Printer choose Properties. Click Printing Preferences.
Here find and change the Page orientation to Landscape.

Hope this information helps you, let us know.
