Is there a way to change the default save location in
windows xp pro so every time I download, or save a file
it does not help me by navigating to the /documents and
settings/current user/my doucments folder??

Thanks

I would like to change it globally if possible.
Thanks

Yes,you have to browse to the folder you want to save to.
The next downloads will go to the same folder created.

Shane,
The point is not to have to navigate and I dont want it
to help me. The closest solution I could found is to edit
the registry. The location is My
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur
rentVersion\Explorer\DocFolderPaths.
Thanks

Hi

If you are using IE to download files, try here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

double-click on 'Download Directory' in the right hand pane and change the value to where you want to save your downloads.

No, as many programs, including those that ship with Windows have their own way of doing things, remembering what folder was used last and etc..........
