Hi

It seems to me that Word 2003 (Excel too) remembers the last printer you chose. Even after closing and opening the program. Appears to contradict the notion of a Default printer in Windows..

Is there a way to STOP this from happening

Frustrated

When you select a printer in Word (all recent versions), you make it the
active printer for Word until you change it. The Windows default printer is
not changed; if you print from another application, that will still be used.
When you quit and restart Word, it will again use the Windows default
printer until you choose a different one.

Have you checked the Printer settings in the Printer control Panel in
Windows to see if it is the default Printer for all applications?

Thanks, Suzanne
Don't like it, though
Also worth noting... when Word is your e-mail editor in Outlook, and Outlook is left open - it doesn't matter what you do to Word, that selected printer stays put until you change it. (I suppose since Outlook is still using Word, it's "technically" not shutting it down)
