When I open Windows Explorer, the "My Documents" folder is always expanded while the rest are collapsed?

I rarely use or access any of the folders under "My Documents" but often look into folders and files under "My Computer" and I would much prefer to have it expanded and "My Documents" collapsed.

Is there any way this can be changed? I've tried looking through various options and menus but haven't as yet found any variables for controlling Windows Explorer default page.

Good ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark,

Change the shortcut command for Explorer to "explorer /e,"

Thanks, Ramesh - your help is invaluable. One more question, if you don't mind:

Can "My Computer" be changed to a folder, so I can point directly at it in the shoretcut???

Mark

You're Welcome, Mark.

Right-click "My computer" and choose Create Shortcut.

I also found your hints very valuable. Thanks!

Can you tell me next how to get the usual "File Open" dialog box that most
applications use to show the folder tree in the left panel, rather than the
choice of "My Recent Documents," "Desktop," etc? The folder tree is much
more efficient in selecting files buried in subdirectories.
