A couple of weeks ago my PST file got corrupted and I started a new
one and copied some of the info to the new file. However now I have a
couple problems. To copy my contact info I just copied contact from
the old to the new. and the same with the calendar, however on my
contacts it placed it as a subfolder of the default contact which is
blank, which means I have to select it constantly, in addition for
email look up it uses the blank default and the same problem with
adding emails to the contact as it ends up in the blank contact
folder. I have read the article Q287563 "Contact information does not
appear in Address Book" but it does not seem to help as when I examine
contact personal folder, I am not sure what file I am looking at, When
I go to add other address book types I see two choices;

Outlook address Book and Personal address book

here I am lost as I would like to make the subfolder the default or
somehow get rid of the parent and have only one folder.

I appreciate any help

Describe more accurately how you copied this information.
Why don't you just copy the information from these subfolders into the
correct default folders, then delete the subfolders?

I oppenned my corrupted PSt file while I had the new pst open, I
copied the old one on top of the new one, it did copy ok, I can not
delete the blank one as it is the parent, the way I know it, if I try
to make another copy, and it asks for the copy folder, I can clearly
see a contact (blank one) and another one as a subfolder underneath
it.

I have a similar problem with the calendar, I have the blank one, then
Calander1 which is the copy from my old pst. I tried to delete
calendar but it will not let me, sayign calendar is a special folder
and canot be deleted,

Well no wonder. So now you have two corrupted PST's.
Never overwrite an entire PST.

Start over. If you want to transfer data, select only the contents of a
given folder and copy the contents into another folder. Dragging the folder
only produces a subfolder within the folder to which you dragged it. For a
Calendar folder, you'll need to select a Table view to be able to copy the
contents.

The way I just posted. Copy the contents, not the folder.
Open the Folder you want to copy. Edit > Select All > Copy to Folder...

It was all in my previous post. You need to select a Table view of your
Calendar.
View > By Category is one that works well.
