Is there a way to change the default NUMBER format for new workbooks?
I found the default FONT, but not default NUMBER format.

Open a new workbook. Customize as you wish. File>Save As Type: scroll down
to Excel Template(*.XLT) and select. Name your workbook "BOOK"(no quotes).
Excel will add the .XLT to save as BOOK.XLT.

Store this workbook in the XLSTART folder usually located at........

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

This will be the default workbook for File>New>Workbook.

You can also open a new workbook and delete all but one sheet. Customize as
you wish then save this as SHEET.XLT in XLSTART folder also. It now becomes
the default Insert>Sheet.

More can be found on this in Help under "templates"(no quotes).

Gord,
Thank you for the tip.
Nothing seemed to want to work until I went into his Tools>Options and saw
there was a check in Fixed Decimal...set for 2.
Every number he put in ended up getting 2 decimal places whether he wanted
them or not!!

These are the reasons I will always have a job!!

Thanks for the feedback.

If you had mentioned this 2 decimal places in your original post, we could
have dealt with that instead of the BOOK.XLT
