I recently went through a wrestling match with my machine as a result of
installing a new NIC and encountering phantom devices that had been
uninstalled some time ago. Upon resolution of the NIC non-functionality
(wouldn't allow TCP/IP binding but would let you set it any way you like), I
found that I was allocated two monitors: my Viewsonic GS771 and something
called "Default Monitor". I can't seem to get rid of this last non-device,
as upon rebooting Windows 2k just adds it right back. Even removing the
phantom copy of this didn't resolve the issue. I don't want to reinstall
Win2k again! Thanks in advance.
