I usually have outlook express set as my default mail client. Now when I hit
on an email link a message comes up saying my default email client not
properly installed. How can I solve this? On my IE 7 browser on option
setting I have outlook express box checked as my default email but its not
working.
Thank you
DR

Hi DR,

Try this route instead:

Click Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Set Program Access and Defaults. Select "Custom" and select "Outlook Express".

I tried the setting but it wont keep the setting after selecting outlook
express and OK. It displayed changing the configuration notice but each time
I checked it is showing the original setting.
Thanks

1. Check the path to msimn.exe
2. Go to Start | Run and type the following:
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg
If the path to the file is different, then type the path to the msimm.exe file
3. Open IE, go to Tools | Internet Options | Programs, set OE as the default mail (and
news) program.

It displayed changing the configuration notice but each time I checked it is showing the original setting.

That's normal. Each time when you open the dialog, "Custom" button gets the focus, and the "Use my current Web browser" is selected by default. However, the changes you made earlier does not change.
