Often I'm in a website that has an address to connect to another section of
the site (i.e. customer support). I keep getting hte message "default mail
client not installed". What can I do to access these areas?

You can't do any thing about unless you have Outlook E-mail account set on
your E-mail client Outlook/Outlook Express.
If this website doesn't provide a form <form> Input data or details fields
here </form>.
You will not be able to contact them unless you have Outlook set as your
e-mail client or you can copy/write down the e-mail and then you can use a
web base e-mail client to send your queries to that website.
HTH.

Or Thunderbird, or Pegasus, or any of the other mail clients. Doesn't
*HAVE* to be Outlook or Outlook Express....

That true, but make no difference if the OP doesn't have an E-mail account
set, so he can't contact then trough the link as it is a feature in the web
design.
Some provide a built-in form and some want you to use your E-mail client??.

Hi,
Which e-mail program should be the default? Has that been set in Control
Panel> Add or remove
programs> Set program access and defaults?

And maybe relevant- maybe not...which version of Internet Explorer?

Hope this helps,
