Hi there, each time I try to email from an Internet
Explorer (version 6) website I get the following message:-
"unable to perform function as default mail client not
properly installed", so I have to copy and then paste the
address into my own service provider. Also I uninstalled
version 6 yesterday on the intention of reinstalling it to
maybe recitify this problem and it wiped out all of my
programme files!! and lots more besides!! Had to resort
to System Restore to get everything back. Really big help
needed here. Any suggestions, please.

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/defaultl.htm
To set Outlook Express as the default mail program:
Go to Start | Run and type this command, with the double quotes and spaces:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg

and then make sure that OE is selected as the default mail program in both
IE and OE.

If that isn't enough, see this article:
"Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default:

You might also want to try this:

To set Outlook 98, 2000 or 2002(XP) as the default mail client,- Go to
Start, Run - Type in the following with quotation marks and press OK
"C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /checkclient
