Using XP Pro SP 2 with WMP10
I keep my MP3s on a separate HDD and have change the rip location to point
to it, however however every now and again it resets itself to the default.
Anyone got any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks
Malcolm

Is the new HDD connect via USB or firewire? If WMP loses connection
temporarily, it resets to root drive.

Hi Mike,
Since I wrote I've been investigating further. I run AdAware SE and
discovered that by cleansing all the MRU objects it found, this resets the
location of ripped CDs back to the default root.

The MRU is
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21~\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences\CDRecordPath

Thanks for your assistance and apologies for wasting your time.

That's not an MRU - it's a program setting.

MRU = most recently used file.
