Hello:

I am wondering if Windows 2000 Professional has a default
group policy that it automatically applies. I am not
applying any group policies to any machines in our group.

How can I tell where this is coming from? In my event log
under Apps I see "Security policy in the group policy
objects are applied successfully." How do I find out
where this is coming from? Thanks for the help.

If your Windows 2000 Professional machine is logging on to Active Directory,
you will receive the "Default Domain Policy" when logging on and any other
Policys you may have configured. To determine from where you are receiving
policys, you can use a tool called gpresult.exe that you can find in the
Windows 2000 resource kit. You can read up on this at:

Good luck

.

It is not recommended that you remove the default domain and default domain
controller policies.
Even if these are removed, Windows 2000 has the Local Group Policy that
would still be applied. You can modify this policy through the Local
Security Policy snappin.
