Hi Folks,

Is there some sort of magic about the default group policy that I don't
know? I set the machine and the user windows component policy for elevated
install, and after rebooting both the domain controller and the client
machine, I see no difference. I still can't install office for a user on
the client workstation without doing so as Administrator.

Any hints?

Thanks,

Chris.

Elevated privileges are used when you deploy software via
GPO not manually.

I still can't install office for a user on
the client workstation without doing so as Administrator.
So the above means that after you have published the Office
installation in group policy and logged in on the target client
machine as a non-admiin user you are unable to select the
advertised software and have it install successfully, but when
you instead log in as an admin you can trigger the published
software to install to completion ??
Giving the Windows Installer service access to elevated
privleges is relevant for software deployed through policy.
