Default font

I try to change the default font for the Normal template-but when I open word again the previous default font is back

Is there a protection on the template and how do i remove
 
Hi Spike

Format > Font. Make your changes and click "Default" and then Yes. When
you exit Word, if you're asked to save the changes to normal.dot, say
"Yes". That should change the default font for all new documents that
you create based on normal.dot. Note that it won't change any existing
documents.

However, if you are in a corporate environment, your IT department may
have locked down normal.dot to prevent your editing it, or, worse, set
up your machine so that a new normal.dot is copied to your profile every
time you log on.
