Hi all,

I changed my system from 98 to 2k last week. When I tried to print out a
report using the same application (Macola) on my HP LJ 1200, the font size
on 2k is far smaller than that printed on 98.

There are no font settings in my application, do you guys know what setting
can I make in windows 2k to give me larger default printing font?

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to do some font setting in the printer object -- that's
for "pure text", which it will print if you drag a text-file icon onto the
printer icon, for example. But there's a limited range of sizes, and usually
it's all Courier ("type writer" font.)

BTW, what the heck is "Macola?"

Hi Wolf,

I cannot find the way to set the default font on the printer. Can you please
tell me where in my system?

'Macola' is a small ERP system used in my company.

Cheers,

OK, I checked. On my OS/2 box I have an HP660C, and I can select a font size
from within the Properties menu. On my W2K box I have an Epson Stylus Color
740, and I can _not_ select a font size from the Properties or Print
Preferences menu. However, under Print Preferences --> Advanced --> Print
Processor, I can select "text." I haven't tried that, so I don't know what it
would do. The Help is not very helpful, unfortunately.

It's obvious that not all printers have built in fonts, and therefore not all
printers allow you to select a default font for printing.

In another thread, there was refernec to "win-printers", which (like
"win-modems") rely on Windows to do what in real printers is done on-board
by the printer itself. If your printer is one of these, the only thing I can
suggest is that you look for the most recent drivers for your printer -- if
they are more recent than what you have, they may fix the font size problem.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
