I'm looking for the extra commands to open Explorer to my
C: drive as default folder on opening. Help?

Hi Davdun,
Click Start | Run | and type "Explorer /e, c:"
Explorer.exe Command-Line Options for Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=314853
Customize the Windows Explorer Views in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=314853

A related question to this.....

When opening explorer with /e c: how do I get it to show the folders and
other drives in the left hand window instead of the default 'system
tasks, file tasks' icons and links?

I have gone to:

View
explorer bar
and ticked 'Folders'

Then Tools
Folder options
View
apply to all folders

The settings wont 'stick;' Next time I start explorer up it's displaying
the system tasks, file tasks, etc again.....

Hi,

Did you mean the "Common Tasks" pane?

Max, I dont think it's possible to view the "common tasks" pane in explorer
view. Possible only in a default folder / my computer view. (webview)

Yes.

An interesting thing is that it WILL show custom web views and the explorer bar together, a la all previous versions (and the XP betas). So it must be the common task pane itself hiding itself rather than explorer hiding it.
