Hi

In earlier versions of PowerPoint, I was able to get into Tool, options and
set different default file locations for pictures, documents, etc.

With 2003 I only seem to be able to set a default location for my documents,
and every time I go to insert a picture it automatically goes to My Pictures
and I have to redirect to the right file location. This is a small thing,
but it's kind of annoying. How do I set my other default locations?

thanks
Christina

Some ideas for you here:

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the specific capability that you are looking for
and, as far back as PowerPoint 97 you could only choose the default
presentation location (open/save) for PowerPoint from within the PowerPoint
options dialog. However, during that same stretch of releases, PowerPoint
has inherited the various user defined locations for files as specified
through the options dialog settings of corresponding version of Word. So,
if you change the following file locations in Word, PowerPoint (and Excel)
will use those settings as well:

* Workgroup Templates
* User Templates

Other PowerPoint default locations cannot be set.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide more control over various default settings, behaviors, etc.
(without have to resort to workarounds, VBA or 3rd party add-ins), don't
forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
