Question

Can anyone please help?

How do you configure XP so Outlook Express can be the default email program?

I've already tried changing the settings in Outlook Express itself, but
that's not working. XP always wants to use "Outlook" as the default email
program, which automatically loads with MS Office, so you can't just
uninstall Outlook without having to uninstall MS Office altogether.

There must be some way to tweak something in XP so I could send webpages and
links from webpages with out XP telling me there is no profile set up in
Outlook.

Anyone know how?

Thanks for the support

Open IE, click tools, options, click on Programs, in the drop down list set
the Email setting to Outlook Express, click Okay...

Tried that, don't work. Also tried the same within Outlook Express, no luck
with that either.

When I try both those options, as soon as I close Outlook Express, and
reopen it, it's back to "not" being the default email program

Any ideas? I had the same problem in old Windows 98, someone had me tweak
something in my registry and that did it, but with XP, I have no idea what to
do after the basics as suggested already.

Help??????

Ah Ha, I got the fix at XP "basics", from Paul who posted this fix:

Control Panel -> Add/remove programs -> Click the 'Set program access and
defaults' button on the left hand side.
Click the custom bar (or whichever bar is selected by a dot in the radio
button) look down the list till you see 'Choose a default mail application'
(or something similar) and select outlook express.

Thanks for everyones time and effort to help me find a solution.
