I cannot use the E-Mail Program on the Internet Exployer.
I am running Outlook Express 6 for a mail program. I keep
getting an error message that no default e_mail program is
set up for the Internet Exployer. The Mail program works
fine by itself?

Have you checked "Tools\Internet Options\Programs" from within IE?

I have a related question on this...

On a default win2k install, you get ie5.5 and Outlook for email.

If you to go a website containing a mailto: item and click on it,
Outlook pops up with the send-email dialog box where you enter the
subject and the body text and click Send.

I have some machines (NT4) on which such an email is transmitted
*immediately*. I have some (win2k) on which it doesn't get transmitted
for minutes or hours; sometimes not until I do the same send-email
operation a few days (or months) later! Usually it gets sent if I
check for incoming email, after say 10 mins.

I used to have the same problem on the nt4 machines but somehow "fixed
it".

I have played with all the email settings I can find in Outlook, the
priority and whether to send immediately, etc, but nothing seems to
change it. It just ends up in the Outbox and gets sent when Outlook
feels like it, sometime later. Is there a setting somewhere which
forces the outgoing email to be sent immediately?

Peter.
