I had win2000 Pro Running in RAID 1, one drive failed, I
replaced the drive and rebuilt the array when the system
rebooted I got a paging memory error. I decided to do a
repair install of the OS. My defaulf boot drive is now
drive F. Can I swit ch it back to C wthout reformatting.

Yes, you can change it back without need format.
I guess, during your repair install, there was another partition before
win2k, that partition was taken as "C" by win2k installer and some boot
files were copied there. This partition is still there and active, served as
boot partition C. Try to find it and delete it or de-activate it.
Go to win2k partition, choose view hidden system file from "folder option"
to make boot.ini file visible, use notepad to edit the boot partition from F
to C:. If all the boot files are intact on your win2k partition, if the
active "C" is de-activated, you can boot into your win2k and it will be C:
automatically. If you fail, you might need another repair install, but make
sure during the repair, your win2k partition is recognized as C:. Otherwise,
the problem of F will remain.

Good luck
