Default display when using TV or HDTV

I have a ATI AIW 9800pro and when I connect any of the connectors
to the TV the card will default to the TV during the bios and during
booting. This seams backwards in that I don't use the TV execpt when
I want to watch movies. Currently I have to unplug the TV from the
connector unless I am using the TV. Is this just a feature of the AIW
cards or can something be changed?

Normally they default to the last display mode used, or to clone mode with
the same thing showing on all displays.

That may be true after windows boots but in the bios screen there isn't
any way to change displays.

When my machine boots the BIOS display comes up on both monitors, or on the
monitor and TV, depending on which are connected.
 
Dunno for sure but my 7200 does more or less the same. I usually leave it
unplugged because of this.
