Default Contact Behavior - Outlook 2003

Greetings!

Outlook 2003 (and earlier version(s)) used to open with the first contact
highlighted, which made it easy to type to find contact.

I've since lost that behavior, and must hit <ctrl><tab> to select the first
contact when first activating the contact view, and have the contact active.
I forsee carpal tunnel in my immediate future from adding the extra
keystrokes every time I switch to the contacts screen <G>.

How do I regain Outlook's original behavior? I've tried using outlook
/clearviews to no avail.

Turn off the default "Outlook Today" display of your Personal Folders file.

Isn't it ridiculous that you need to forego using "Outlook Today" as your
startup page in order for the search mechanism in Contacts to work correctly.

Try using the Contacts Lookup Window too - it's on the Toolbar and says in
grey type - Type a Contact Here to Find. It works (most of the time). You
can type first, last or company name (most of the time).
