Default Color Scheme Won't Go Away

This is an issue that just started recently...out of the three XP color
schemes I prefer the Silver scheme and have had that one selected for 3-4
years. Recently everytime I boot up - the default Blue scheme shows up and I
have to go into Properties and reset it. Is there a way to fix this so that
it saves the color scheme selected when Windows boots up? Thanks.

While none of the fixes on the links you provided worked for me...I did find
a solution here:
