First, I have a database of info that I have to save with
the commas to import to their final locations.I
can't open them while they are in the CSV extension,
because then the values, namely part numbers, will
change to some formula.
Now, I have the option to export my inventory from Quick
Books to CSV or PRN. I never heard of PRN, so I
chose CSV and what do you know, the parts numbers are
changed after the import.
I've created a new default template according to the help
section and it still does it.
I've been trying to work on this for months, but can not
find a workaround. I don't think a program should change
what you place in there, unless you tell it to.
Thank you.

Hi Jeff

Have you tried to rename your filename from .csv to .txt after exporting, then you will get the possibility to select the field types (Text, Generell, Date, etc.) during the import into Excel
Your partnumbers should be Text of course

..prn = printer format - how this really works, I don't know. ;-

Hope this helps
Bernd

Bernd,
Problem is, when I use Quick Books to export, the dat is
changed during the export. I did find, if I open the CSV
in Excel, the correct data shows in the 'formula' bar, but
not in the cell, what prints is what is in the cell. I am
looking for a default setting in Excel to NOT change data
to any kind of formula. If I enter a board number, like 9-
2003, Excel changes this to a date. If I enter long
digits, Excel changes it to 4+E12...or something like that.
Thank you
