Ok, here is what I found. I just switched to Firefox.
However, for both MyIE or GreenBrowser, my experiences are the
same: if you are/have been using MyIE or GreenBrowser, if you
EVER set it as default, even after you "reset" it, some entry
wouldn't let go and still remain there causing problem.
I switched to Firefox and found that the associations got so
massed up and hard to spot out where the problems were because
whenever you set a browser as default, it involved plenty of
registry keys and they did NOT all get set back as it had been
before (sad! I am not sure even Firefox would did this right,
either). And I am guessing that some people could perhaps find
the same problems with switching to Maxthon. In addition, in
some case, the freeware tool "setbrowser" won't work, depend
on how messed up the associations are (it didn't work with my
XP)
Here is what I did to *truely* have a clean up before
installing a browser with a different name. First, I reset the
setting in GreenBrowser. Then, I got IE to reset itself.
Then, use Regseeker (www.hoverdesk.net), and search for the
name of the browser you want to ditch (I found a bunch of of
useless entries in the file association parts). Then delete
all of them. Then I install my new browser and use my new
browser to set itself to default and finally got Firefox 9.2
to work :-(
