After booting my machine this morning I noticed that most fonts displayed on
Web pages are now in italics. I have not changed any font settings anywhere -
how do I to back to windows default text settings for the browser? I can't
find anywhere to change this in IE or display settings, is this something
that needs to be edited in the registry?

Hi Panter,
Try this, Go to the IE Properties Click on Tools >> Internet Options >> On
General Tab go to Font it located in the bottom of the Gerneral Tab Window
clcik on it and you can change the Font on both to this in the Language
Script : Latin Based
Web page font: | Plain text font :
Times New Roman | Courier New
Click Ok and Refresh try to open the Website or your homepage and see if it
solved the problem.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply...this does not fix the problem. I also noticed that my
fonts are italics in Firefox as well, so this issue may not be isolated to IE.

No viruses/spyware on the machine. System restore is not an option on this
specific machine as it has been turned off

I found the problem...it had nothing to do with IE.

After looking at the webpages that were displaying italics closer I noticed
that they were all set Arial on the font..so the problem was Windows was
substituting something else for the font that should be displayed..basic
Arial.

I changed the entries here:
HKLM/software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/FontSubstitutes/

To match my other machine for the Arial fonts, and all is well.

I am having the same problem as you had and I followed your advice through
regedit, but how do you change this?

Mike

I saw this post and am having the same problem. I was able to follow your
instructions to the point of what to do at
HKLM/software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/FontSubstitutes/.
What does your other machine say (I don't know what to alter here).

Mike

Hello Mike,

Simply export the "FontSubstitutes" to a REG file, and post the contents
here. I'll do a registry compare (with the data in my system).
