Strange improvements using real 5729 dated June 24, direct downloaded
from Spynet.

MSAS finds a lot of traces left behind within PCs I believed was clean.
Something is really improved with real 5729 definitions.

Fullscan with all options checked, no need for safe mode.

Findings:
- Hotbar
- Altnet
- LOP
- Messenger Plus

And under build 614? Interesting. I haven't seen this, but most of my PC's
are corporate workstations and pretty clean.

Bill ! if you havent seen it............

Just download these compressed files from Spynet, credit to Taxman

"TaxMan presented the following explanation :

Here are the three URLs to manually download the definitions:

http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcDeterminationData.gcz
http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcThreatAuditScanData.gcz
http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcThreatAuditThreatData.gcz

The three files you get are actually ZIP files and have to
be decompressed into your folder.

Hope this works for you."

- Extract them with Winzip or 7-Zip ( I was using 7-Zip)

- Shutdown MSAS

- Copy extracted files to MSAS folder and overwrite existing def files.

- Restart, 5729, dated June 24

Thanks - interesting workaround. Don't know what the safeguards in place to
ensure authenticity of the defs are--I'd expect that the hashes are involved
somewhere along the line.

No--I missed seeing this completely--I've been halfway between vacation mode
and working hard--I work for an outfit that runs an annual conference for
1800 or so people someplace in the U.S.--and I'm about to head off for that
for a week or so. My job is to make sure they are online and connected back
to the servers in the main office, so I'll have connectivity, but not much
free time.

I Update with manual download ,but now there is a only
problem with shedule update.

So--are you up to 5729?

I've experienced this issue of difficulty updating only once--and once I got
the right definitions in place, it didn't recur--so I think it is quite
possible that scheduled updates will work properly next time there is an
update.
