I tripped over a nice CD/DVD burning program this morning. First time I've
seen it. Get a link from www.majorgeeks.com

It has a simple auto-run utility for making bootable CD's, which is
appreciated. It's coded in C, so it's very compact at only 1.4mb for the
setup file.

The only problem I see so far is the window layout and behavior is a bit
odd, but I can easily get used to it.

Now that CDBurner XP Pro no longer supports drag-and-drop, Deep Burner may
win out as my favorite.

Mmmmm... I smell turkey. Gotta go now! :-P

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Bob

Are you sure ??? On the link there is clearly stated that DeepBurner has a
FREEWARE license! (one of the pop-ups shows 30day trial).
Even on the homepage of the author.

Have you written to CDBurner XP Pro author
about the drag and drop support ?

If you did, what did he say.

This is not freeware. It is shareware with a 30 day trial period.

Oy... missed that little nugget.

Majorgeeks is pretty strict about that. I hope they permanently ban them if
it's not Freeware as advertised.

How does CDBurner XP Pro compare to Nero?
Besides being free and all. Can it burn
other formats like vcd/svcd, etc? How is
the quality of the audio burns compare?
It's a rather large download for a modem
and I don't have an abundance of cdrs to
waste. - But I am looking to move away
from Nero.

It is freeware............sort of...........lol

Just downloaded it from http://www.2haveit.com/download.php?id=17250

and apparently it's free for 30 days,

after which you either pay for the license or the program

reverts to Adware.

It's still pretty cool,as long as they don't cripple it.........

I think you're being petty John,

I did say *It is freeware............sort of...........lol*

In fact it is entirely free fore 30 days, you can't deny that.

And it's adware after that, Bob might quite be happy with that.

I think you're just trying to score points here,

whatever for I don,t know.

I was quite clear in my earlier post on the situation,

it took me quite some time to put it together and I really don,t

appreciate anybody nit picking at it over a triviality.

At the end of the day the program is FREEWARE for 30 days.

**Top post fixed**
CDBurner XP Pro has some drawbacks for the moment;
1) does not burn iso files directly
2) does not burn vcd/svcd natively, although you can preassemble these with
other tools
3) doesn't support drag and drop, although I personally do not miss this
feature.

On the plus side it is among the simplest CD burner programs I have had the
pleasure of using, and use it exclusively with the exception of items 1) and
2) above. It is stable and has never burned a coaster for me. I highly
recommend it, the author definately gets my kudos.

Adware is already crippled IMO. And adware ain't freeware.

I too saw the EULA with its 30day limitation and wrote to majorgeeks asking for clarification.

Overnight I had a response assuring me that it is a freeware, not crippled and no time limitation. The Eula is
presumably from another software cut & pasted into DeepBurner software.

I am satisfied that the software is a valid freeware.

Free download does not mean freeware. I stand with John.

4) it does not support as wide a range of drives as Nero - at least
not yet. But I have an old cheapy drive, so have little cause for
complaint :-)

Check the forum that belongs to the DeepBurner program. The developer
says the program is free and will remain so.

I use it instead of Nero. Works great.

I burn ISO's with BurnAtOnce.

I have been in contact with ASTONSOFT and they have confirmed

that Deep Burner is totally and permanantly freeware, with no strings

attached.

Just jumping in on this thread...
....Where did people get the idea that it's not?
Does the website need an update or something?
