Deep Burner Woes

3 coasters in a row, just a simple data disk.

Re-booted between disk 2 and 3. Closed all running software. No help.

Ran CD Burner XP Pro and it worked fine the first time.

My burner (LiteOn 52x32x52) has been very reliable, so 10 chances out of 9
it's a Deep Burner glitch. I *think.

Anyone else make a batch of pretty Christmas coasters with Deep Burner?

***Merry Christmas!***

Hi, Bob,

I'm not at all familiar with Deep Burner since I use EZCD 5 Platinum, but I
thought that I would mention that sometime it's not the software but the
media. I have one computer with a Plextor that writes to any cd-r disk that
I use. I have another with an AOpen burner that is quite finicky. I can
take a disk that the Plex likes just fine and not be able to burn to it with
the AOpen. I buy cheap disks on sale at places like Big Lots or Office
Depot (20c each) but not every disk is useable on the AOpen. Have you
recently changed to a different media company? If so, that could be the
problem. Also, you might want to try burning at a slower speed just to see
if that helps. Just two suggestions in hopes that one might help. Best, JG

Your advice is very good Jeff, but I still think it's the software.

I'm just finishing up a stack of 50 disks, and this was my first coasters in
the lot. Due to a lack of choices in Deep Burner, I burned the disks at 48x
instead of my usual 52x.

I'll wait for a new release and try it again. It has a nice auto-start
feature.

Thanks Jeff!

I think some burners and/or some software just don't work at certain
speeds, and that may be especially true for highspeed rated media.
You'd think that highspeed rated media would work better at slow
speeds but apparently that isn't always true.

My Nero Burning ROM on my 16x12x40 drive simply will not burn reliably
at faster than 4x. This with different media rated up to 52x. It may
just be that the combo of Deep Burner, your media and your drive just
doesn't work.

I had to stop using NTI Backup Now because it wanted to burn backup
disks at the full speed of my drive and all it did was make coasters.
I used Linux cdrecord to burn some disks and noticed it allows you to
specify the burn speed - so it combined with some Linux backup
utilities may be the best solution for my backup needs. Most backup
utilities that write to CDs directly don't seem to allow for
specifying burn speed.
