Hi all,

I have come across Deep Burner and BurnAtOnce.

My new CD writer was bundled with Nero Express 6.x. Is there any advantages
of moving to one of the free programs above, besides the obvious size
factor.

Would you recommend either one over Nero?

Many thanks for any thoughts,

Jane

I can't give any views on the relative merits, but I really like Deep
Burner -- it does everything I want.

(Which is admittedly very little -- mainly data CDs and the occasional
audio CD. I was using an old version of Adaptec EasyCD, and have
removed it entirely from my machine in favour of DeepBurner.)

Have you seen any bugs in DeepBurner? Any problems?

Not so far, but as I say -- my burning needs are pretty basic.

The developers are constantly working on it, though -- the most recent
version introduced "remember the window configuration", after many
people requested it, and a lot of other things are on the "currently
working on" list.

There's a pretty good forum that you might find interesting to poke
around -- it'll clarify the current problems and suggestions -- at

Hello,

I use Burn-at-once and have been very satisified with the program. Lean and
mean. It's worth giving it a go.

I saw the other posts in the thread but one I haven't seen here on this
NG yet is "Quickburn" available at...

http://www.ghosthunter.6x.to/

First saw it about a weekl ago. Even though it's a beta it works well.
Here is what the authosr has to say about it...
"QUICKBURN 0.23 beta Easy and very short to use burning software. Start
this prorgram, Use drag and DROP for files and folders and click BURN CD.
That's all, very easy to use. Multisession support with import from an
other session. CDRW erase normal or quickly. ISO create and Burn ISO.
Bootable CD. Integrated Explorer. Support every CD/DVD Burner. Support
ASPI or SPTI-Driver. No aspi required under W2K/XP. Incl. a
sessionmanager to manage your session.r session. "

Ok, thanks, I'll check it out. I installed it today and will try it when I
back up my files soon. I'll use it mostly for data CDs at this point...

I use Deep Burner every week or so to burn Linux ISOs, Audio CDs, and
many data cds. I haven't had any problems with it. The layout is very
nice. I haven't figured out how to use their autorun creator yet but
that is probably just me.

My writer camew with Nero too, and apart from INCD, it's fine.

But I've recently tried deep burner (tip - always try anything
recommended by Steven Burn), and the extra facilitues, like the best
label printer I've seen, make it the tops.

I haven't met a bug, but I've heard of them, but as it's still in
development I wouldn't worry too much about that

DeepBurner.
The Developer should add "Add Button"
to transfer the selected data CdRoot. Or
an Arrow << to move the selected dated
from the source explorer. There is a lot of
space for this.
Or may be a function key F5 or on the
status line click "Copy Button" should be fine.
--------------------------------------------------
It is quite fussy for a handycaped person
to drag the selected data who cannot drag
smoothly as hand disability to hold the mosue
buttons steady.
---------------------------------------------------------
The developers should make a rule builtin that
any data draged to Cd Root for burning should go at the end of line in
sequence of
dragging and drpping because when the line is nearly full, if one is not
very carefull, dropped data can go into any other folder. In that case the
auto alpha sort command is not very usefull.

Hi Mark,

IMO caution is warranted. I noticed several programs at that site with
familiar names - including Dir2HTML - which is PW2004 - *not* by this
author.

I just Googled usenet for: ghosthunter software

I suggest you do the same. Seeing "Cracker: Ghosthunter" does not
inspire me with confidence. . .

X-No-Archive: yes

I use Burn-at-once and have been very satisified with the program. Lean and

Once you have selected the folders/files to burn and click on the
write button the proggy spends considerable time before start of
actual burning and I have a feeling that it is producing a temporary
file.

This does not happen with DeepBurner which I think checks only the
file names to see whether they are longer than 62 chars or something.

Hope someone will know better about this and respond.
