Hi All
Pretty sure I know what I have to do here but just in
case...

I have a newly upgraded domain running AD (w2k). I
upgraded the PDC from NT4 and then did a dcpromo on the
W2k dns servers I already had in place. That gave me my 3
W2k DC's. That was all fine.

Is there any proper method to remove the remaining NT4
DC's without having to migrate them first to W2k and then
demote them?

Yep I could remove via NTDSUTIL but hoped there was a
cleaner method...

Cheers all....

Mark

You can just turn them off and delete the computer accounts. Don't forget to
switch to native mode when you are sure the domain is running smoothly with
no BDC's.

Cheers for the reply Simon. I thought the same but I get a
msg saying that you cannot delete the dsa object. Now I
was logged on as a domain admin and not enterprise admin
but I don't think it would make a difference. Am I
wrong....?

I'm not sure if that is your problem, but in general, Domain admin for
Domain things, Enterprise Admin for Enterprise things (ie Active
Directory).

Cheers,

Cliff
