I am really stuck in two minds now.
My core system Currently is as follows

Motherboard...............Asus A8N-SLI
CPU..........................Athlon AMD 3200+
Graphics Card.............6600GT
Memory.....................2x512Mb Geil memory(3200) 1GB

I want to increase performance for multi tasking (slightly) and gaming (medium to high next year)

...what do i do ???

Do i get another 1GB memory and maybe a 7800GT card and a dual socket 939 4200+ processor and hope it lasts till next year

OR

start again with a AM2 system

Motherboard ........K9N-SLI Platinum
CPU....................AMD Athlon dual 4200+

I could sell my existing motherboard complete with Graphics card, memory and cpu for about £150/£200 on Ebay at current prices. so that would pay for the new above AM2 basics.

7800GTX PCI for £90

Its the memory thats baffling me , could i use my existing pc 3200 in the new AM2 or would i have to buy new ???

The crux of this thread is should i upgrade my socket 939 or switch to AM2

(My case is Antec Performance TX1088 AMG with a 480w psu)

I have £200 to play with ?

939 is getting a litle thin on the ground now, if you want a new x2 then waiting may make it harder to find one later.

You need DDR2 for AM2 boards, you wont be able to use the DDR you have at the mo.

:)

Did you used to have 2 6600GT's? Sold one?

Rush - I have a brand new unopened Athlon X2 3800+ (Socket 939 - retail) which I no longer need as I went C2D instead - was going to wait to the New Year and list a whole load of unwanted PC bits on here, but if you want it make me an offer via PM :thumb:
