Ivor Problem

I am trying vicmans photo editor. I want a free prog to muck around with
photos and do special effects e.g. emboss etc AND be easy enough for 7 year
olds to manage without layers and complicated menus. Any ideas please folks?

I recently reinstalled the adobe reader and it came packaged with a free
photo album (program). It allows some instant buttons for color correction
etc.
I don't know if it would have enough functions for what your looking for
but it might do the trick.

Babya Photoworkshop is fully featured-yet under 2mb with vb runtimes and has
many image effects:

and you could truy some of its options to crop-[lus under 2mb with vb
runtimes installed-smaller than the gimp.

If you don't have tabtl32.ocx-p://www.it-mate.co.uk/main_content/ocx.asp

in
link doesn't work and it only seems to be trialware/demo now.

I went to the trouble of getting the app and

It is an editor which works in layers, and saves
as bitmap or
proprietary format. I deleted it immediately .
It is of no use to
me, and hardly intuitive or simple which was the
original request.

IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com/) is a nice free viewer but has some
simple editing available as well (be sure to get the plugins too).

The Image menu has a number of operations, especially on the Effects
submenu. Might be just the thing for a 7 year old to play with, depending
on what you need it to do.

The old free version, though the new V3 is cheap (but not free)

If SIMPLE is the main thing, then TUX PAINT may be the answer

Made for kids (3 and up ????)

If you can tolerate the registerware, spamware, phonehomeware,
phoneyouupandtrytosellyousomethingware nature of "FREE" Serif
Software, their Photoplus 5.5 is very mainstream in it's look and
feel.

www.freeserifsoftware.com - you have been warned!
The "phone home" element is an update/offer check from their server
and is not out and out spyware, but still rather sneaky and not
optional!

I am quite a fan of Serif products - that spyware issue is a load of crap.
And I've never felt they spammed me regarding offers, but I would NOT
recommend PhotoPlus for someone who is looking for something EASY. If you
wouldn't recommend Photoshop 5.5 LE for someone, then I don't think
PhotoPlus 5 would be for them either.
