Howdy All,

So i am currently working on a friend's laptop and it has me trul
stumped. It is a Dell Inspiron 1420 running Vista Home 32bit. After
clean Vista install the laptop starts to BSOD on start up afte
installing all the initial Windows updates. I can confirm that th
system continues to work/function just fine if I leave the updates of
- but I am bear to do so because I know there are some critical syste
updates included among those first update batch.

I did a bit of debugging work and at first though it might have bee
the hard-drive causing the issue (I ran a diagnostic on it and i
showed a whole slew of bad sectors) but after replacing it with a bran
spanking new HDD I am still getting the BSOD on reboot after installin
the Vista updates. I did a bit of Googling on the model number an
known Vista issue but nothing came up that pertained to causing a BSO
on restart.

Open to suggestions on what I can/should to pin-point the exact issu
at hand here.

Regards,
~Jef

Can you post the BSOD message in its entirety? That will help us in
determining the cause and possible solutions?
