It would be nice to see a screenshot of that "death-face" ;o)
Sometimes Messenger f.u.b.a.r.´s in the video-codecs - either because of
too bad quality/bandwidth one or the other way. By seeing a screenshot of
the actual problem, we might be able to distinguish between Poltergeists
and other, more earthly, problems.

thanks for all comments so far,the comp is still going off when a webcam is
acepted by it i have had them go to task manager and look what performance
meter says and the CPU is running at 100% the top of scale but mine has same
reading for a short period then drops.
the cam has been tried with another contacts today and the same problem
happens the comp closes down completely then re- boots on its own .

NOW YOU ARENT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS i have since seen the figure(deathly
face) on my comp today it is a advert for a terrifiying film called HARD
CANDY thats about to come out (from www.hardcandymovie.co.uk) how it kept
appearing in the other person webcam window is anyones guess so thats answers
that part ,

so still open to suggestions why comp closes down.

Thanks Dave B

Greetings Dave,

Actually now that I've thought about this more, Messenger does make you look at an
advertisement for a few seconds before your actual webcam conversation starts, since what
you're describing is for a movie, this may be what you're referring to.

As for the computer shutting down part, that usually sounds like a problem with their webcam
drivers. They might want to head over the webcam manufacturers website and see if there are
any updated ones.
