Dead Computer

A friend om mine has had a power failure at home, but after that everything
worked (printer, scanner etc...) except for his PC.
What could have happened??

Did the power bar your friend was using have a surge protector built in to
it? If not then there was probably a power surge and it fried something in
his computer. Most likely it was his motherboard but I wouldn't rule out a
fried power supply.

If you want to prevent this from happening again you should get surge
protector or a UPS.

What exactly is the problem ? (ie. no lights, fans, nothing, or turns on but
won't boot, etc)
