I just got through with a campaign against all the
spyware on my computer (Spybot, Spyware blaster, etc
etc.) and now my address bar is gone. I can see it as if
I had shoved it way up in the corner with the buttons,
but can't drag it down to where it belongs. It used to
appear when I pressed ctrl, but that doesn't work any
more either. I've reinstalled IE and don't know what to
do next.

Avoiding the obvious, have you tried: Menu > View > Toolbars
Address Bar?

If no joy, run Hijack This.
Go to:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location: Spyware and Hijackware Removal Support.
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/index.php?s=8a236cdf61469fbad3bddbe810be0374&act=SF&f=11

Sign in, then copy and paste both files in your message.

Kyle,
Close all instances of IE except one
Right-click on the top Toolbar, uncheck: "Lock the Toolbars"
Place the cursor over the "Address" button and click (hold down)
It will change to a 4-way arrow, move or expand the Address Bar to desired
location
Right-click on the top Toolbar, check: "Lock the Toolbars"
Hold down the Ctrl key and close IE

Confirm these default Registry entries exist:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Show_ToolBar"="yes"
"Show_URLinStatusBar"="yes"
"Show_URLToolBar"="yes"
--
Odd Toolbar Behavior:
Open Regedit to the following location:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser]

Highlight the "ITBarLayout" entry (right pane)
Right-click and select: Delete, close Regedit and reboot.
Note: the "ITBarLayout" will be recreated on restart.
Always Export before editing ........

Hi,
Right click an empty area of your toolbar and uncheck Lock the Toolbars.
Then try to move it.
