I have just installed a second hard drive that I want to
use along with the hard drive that came with the
computer. Problem is this, the second HD has been
partitioned into 4 all together (hard drive or Hard Disk
1 with 3 partitions called: Local Disk G, Local Disk H
and Local Disk I). And I don't have a system restore
disk either. I've tried going thru the Dos Prompt using
DISKPART>/delete\Device\HardDisk1\Partition1\750MG\G:\
It didn't work, I tried it in many other ways as well but
nothing seemed to work. Anything anyone could help me
with in this would be GREATLY appreciated. I've tried
everything I could think of and I'm only learning this
stuff too, LOL. So please give it to me in extremely
easy layman terms, LOL. Step A to Z sort of thing, LOL.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Thanks
Teryl

There are a number of utilities which can do the job. If
you check on the hard disk mnufacturers web site - most
have disk utilities that you can download and make a
bootable floppy. Then you can use it to partition or de-
partition your hard drive.

One piece of software that I use is Acronis Partition
Expert 2003. This programme allows you to make a bootable
CD or floppy. It fires up in DOS but has a Windows type
interface. It is supremely easy to delete all partitions
with it and create one whole new one.

Alternatively, I find diskpart very confusing. If you
have a Windows 98 SE or Millenium Boot Disk with FDISK on
it - use that. Boot with it and, at the DOS prompt,
type "fdisk" (no quotes). Follow the instructions. You
need to delete the logical partitions first and finally
the main partition. After this, create a new primary
partition and allocate all space to it.

After this, you will need to format the hard drive.

Hi, it's easy. Please visit http://www.ptdd.com and download Partition
Table Doctor to help you. Partition Table Doctor( PTD ) is a powerful
recovery tool for your harddisk partition tables, it checks and
repairs partition table error automatically

.
Enable Large Disk Support. Repartition and Reformat Whole
Drive ( back up or lose everything on drive). Create one
Primary Partition, and one Logical, Then reformat and it
will assign Drive letters for u (C, D & E)
