How critical is it to install only "Qualified Vendor's" of DDR Ram as per
the asus website into this mobo?
What is the potential problems of using other vendor's?

thanks.

I installed the Corsair TWINX512-3200LLPT...two sticks of 256.

That memory isnt on their list. Runs fine with memtest, etc. Had the
pc running for mostly 3 weeks now with no problems with games,
multimedia, etc. Dual-channel and Pat both on.
If I had the extra money, I wouldve bought the 2x512.

I'm running mine with cheapo memory supposed to be PC3200. It's
working fine with relaxed timing at DDR333.

You can run faster with better memory, but I don't know if it's really
that much difference.

I am running my P4P800 with Azenram which is not the top of the line RAM.
Works just fine like other Azenram did on my P200 yrs ago. My friend has a
P4P800 with OCZ RAM and his runs at faster timings than mine does. Both of
us are using SPD, not forcing the timings. I can't say I notice any
difference in the performance of our 2 machines but his probably does run a
bit faster.

I ran over 20 passes of Memtest86+ without any errors before stopping it.

In terms of how critical it is depends on the board/chipset model. Some
boards seem to be very finicky and others aren't.
