I bought a 1 gig Corsair dual channel kit for my A8N-E. The memory
timing says 2-3-3-6. Can somebody tell me what those numbers mean? This
is my first system build.

These are the RAS/CAS timings. In general terms, the lower those numbers
are, the lower the latency of the RAM is, and is therefore "faster".

Your motherboard should automatically detect the timings and adjust your
BIOS for you. Your motherboard may not properly detect the voltage. Many
motherboards will default to 2.5 volts for DDR, whereas the Corsair need
2.7 - 2.75 volts.

FWIW, Corsair RAM is among the very best RAM made. You made a wise choice
in choosing it.

For AMD chips, the CAS latency is rated as 2.5 by Corsair and is set that
way by default in the A8N-E bios.

Here is the text of a forum answer by the "Ram Guy" at the Corsair website

"...set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and you can use this a reference to
set the timings.

Dim Voltage 2.7 Volts
CAS Latency CL=2.5
Row Cycle Time tRC Bios Default
Row Refresh Cyc Time tRFC Bios Default
Ras# to CAS# delay tRCD 3
Row to Row delay Bios Default
Min Ras# Active Time tRAS 6
Row Precharge Time tRP 3
Write Recovery Time Bios Default
Write to Read delay Bios Default
Read to Write Delay Bios Default
Refresh Period tREF Bios Default"
